Steve Gerber, writer/creator of the sardonic ,cynical Howard the Duck for Marvel Comics, passed away yesterday. He was an industry legend for many reasons, to me for his tenure on Man-Thing, the Ayn Rand inspired monster from man's ID, and another reason being his long legal challenge to Marvel over ownership of his own character. Gerber was a valiant artist and fighter; many of today's comic creators are in his debt.

He has our gratitude.
