"America is still suffering the horrible consequences of hippies who thought utopia could be found in joints and intentional disconnect."

- Cultural philosopher Ted Nugent, auteur of the tone poems "Cat Scratch Fever" and "Wang Dang Sweet Poontang" in today's Wall Street Journal. The WSJ once again living up to to its stringent editorial standards.

Fun Ted Fax:

- In a 1992 radio interview, Nugent referred to Heidi Prescott of the Fund for Animals as a "worthless whore" and a "shallow slut," asking "who needs to club a seal, when you can club Heidi?" and was ordered by a court to pay $75,000.

- "I think that homosexuality is wrong."

- He loves to blow apart small furry animals with big loud guns.

- Ted's pistol went off in his pocket, his father was shot in the ear by a Winchester and his son Rocco fired a rifle in a gun cabinet.

- On Iraq: "Our failure has been not to Nagasaki them."

- He wore a confederate flag shirt to Texas governer's Rick Perry's inauguration.

- On being invited to George Bush's private inaugural party at his ranch in 2000: "When he noticed me, he was surrounded by these huge bankrollers from his campaign. He literally swept past all of them and said: 'Laura! Look who's here! It's Ted!' Then he hugged me and took me by the shoulders. He said: 'Just keep doing what you're doing. Don't think that we don't know what you're up to out here. Stay on course. You're doing great.'"
