To Live and Die In LA
photo
Well, now that was a week or two. I took off to San Francisco to reconnect with friends family and cool Pacific breezes. There's something about driving into the Bay Area that always fills me with hope and possibility. As if Atlantis is nearby.

Visit my familia in Rocklin, hang with the wild nieces and nephews, eat pizza, then a quick flight to Burbank and I'm home. Head over to the New Beverly that night for a terrific Glenn Ford double feature, THE FASTEST GUN ALIVE and CIMARRON, both presented by Quentin Tarantino, who sits next to me and I finally get to thank him again for his QT3 Fest. We talk about it and he concurs it might be the best festival he's done. He's so easygoing.

I walk home around midnight, pondering my travels from sububurbia in the morning to Tarantino in the evening and marvel at the warp of time, culture and geography.

You're a lucky man, I can't even find a theatre that plays In Bruges, much less houses Glenn Ford or QT. Also congrats on that blurb in the Preminger book, I still haven't gotten there yet, but I cheated and looked it up in the index.

The In Bruges thing is an overstatment, but not much of one. I live in Virginia about an hour from DC, which is where I go to meet my movie needs (somewhat).
